Employee Assistance Program Provides Added Benefit
to Nebraska State College System Personnel
Lincoln – The Nebraska State College System, which includes Chadron, Peru and Wayne State Colleges, recently selected Best Care Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to provide a new benefit to full-time employees beginning July 1. Best Care EAP is headquartered in Omaha with several locations throughout the state.
“This new benefit, agreed upon during contract negotiations this year, will provide all personnel with access to professional counselors for assistance. It is designed to enhance the lives of our personnel by improving overall wellness, thus increasing effectiveness at work. It is a great benefit to everyone employed in the Nebraska State College System,” Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and General Counsel Larry Schultz said.
The employee assistance program offers a full range of counseling services to meet individual needs. It is a confidential program that addresses a variety of personal and workplace issues, such as anxiety, depression, family issues, marriage and relationship concerns, stress, and substance abuse.
In addition, it offers basic information regarding wellness and fitness issues, services available within the community, monthly and quarterly publications, and seminars on issues affecting your workplace.
Chancellor Stan Carpenter said, “We recognize that the stresses of everyday living and personal issues may have an adverse effect on an employee’s job performance. This program has been established to help deal with these things. We are providing this benefit, because we care about our employees.”
Personnel will be notified about the program by the administration at each college this summer. Orientations explaining the program in detail and training for supervisors will be conducted this fall.
The Nebraska State College System serves close to 8,000 students from Nebraska and surrounding states through three geographically diverse institutions: Chadron, Peru and Wayne State Colleges. Combined, the three colleges offer more than 200 degree, certificate, and pre-professional programs that are accessible on the three campuses, via the Internet, and in several satellite locations throughout the state. With more than 250 credentialed faculty members and 50,000 successful graduates, the NSCS provides significant human and intellectual capital that contributes to the current and future economic strength of the State of Nebraska.
