New Student Trustees Appointed to NSCS Board of Trustees

LINCOLN – Governor Pete Ricketts has appointed Sam Klammer of Juniata, NE, Kayla Myers of Sidney, IA, and Ashley VanMeeteren of Yankton, SD to serve as student representatives on the Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees. The students will serve during the 2019-2020 academic year.

“The Board of Trustees welcomes the new Student Trustees, and looks forward to their insight and leadership they bring to the Board,” Gary Bieganski, Chair of the NSCS Board of Trustees.

Sam Klammer – Chadron State College Student Trustee

Klammer, a senior at Chadron State College, is earning a degree in business administration with an accounting option and a minor in military science and leadership.  He is the president of War Eagles Club, member of the Army ROTC, Blue Key Honor Society, and participates in Intramural Sports. Sam stated in his application he “wanted to be able to impact and have a voice for my school and for the students around me.  This opportunity is a great way to become more involved with the school, and that is exactly what I wanted to do.”

Sam is the son of Dan and Jan Klammer of Juniata, Nebraska.

Kayla Myers – Peru State College Student Trustee

Myers, a senior majoring in math and secondary math education and minoring in business administration and accounting. Myers is also pursuing an endorsement in coaching and is part of the honors program at Peru State College. She is involved in the Student Senate, Campus Activities Board, Peru Student Education Association, Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Alpha Theta and is a peer tutor in mathematics. When discussing her appointment, Kayla stated, “I have always been passionate about Peru State College, and I want to do everything I can to help give a voice to the students on campus. I felt there was no better position for a student to contribute than to be a part of the Board of Trustees.”

Myers is the daughter of Kenneth and Willo Myers of Sidney, Iowa.

Ashley VanMeeteren – Wayne State College Student Trustee

VanMeeteren, a senior at Wayne State College, is majoring in secondary social science education with a minor in pre-law and coaching. She has served as the student senate vice president, student chair for Academic policy committee, chair of student judicial board, and Pi Gamma Mu vice president. When asked about her role as a Student Trustee, Ashley stated, “I am honored to be serving as a Student Trustee for the NSCS because of the chance I have to represent my fellow students when board decisions are made. I hope to make a difference for students while serving on the board.”

VanMeeteren is the daughter of Jeff and Pam VanMeeteren of Yankton, South Dakota.

The NSCS Board of Trustees would also like to thank our outgoing Student Trustees Dawson Brunswick of Chadron State College and Camarie Stratman of Peru State College for the dedication and service to the Board of Trustees.
