Anderson, Brown, and Wachter Awarded Davis-Chambers Scholarship

LINCOLN – The Nebraska State College System (NSCS) announced three recipients of the Davis-Chambers Scholarship Alyse Anderson, Dezirae Brown, and Michelle Wachter for the 2020-21 academic year. 

The Davis-Chambers Scholarship is a $2,000 scholarship provided through the NSCS for transfer students from Nebraska’s community colleges. The scholarship is a need-based and recognizes students who excelled academically at the community college level. The scholarship is awarded for one academic year (two semesters) and is renewable for an additional academic year upon academic success, not to exceed four consecutive academic semesters, if completed within a total of two years. 

The 2020-21 Davis-Chambers scholars were selected from a strong pool of applicants.

Alyse Anderson of Minden, graduated from Minden High School and attends Central Community College in Hastings. In her application, she stated that she will transfer to Wayne State College and study applied human and sports physiology.

Dezirae Brown of Blue Springs graduated from Southern High School and attends Southeast Community College in Beatrice. In her application, she stated that she will transfer to Peru State College and study pre-veterinary medicine. 

Michelle Wachter from Wausa, graduated from Bloomfield Community Schools and attends Northeast Community College in Norfolk. In her application, she stated that she will transfer to Wayne State College and study business finance. 
 

"I am a first-generation student, and it was a really hard decision for me to attend college or not. Then, I found Peru State College. With the scholarships and affordable living expenses here, Peru made the decision a lot less difficult."
